Transition Year students visit MU

Transition Year students visit MU

Last Wednesday, 11th May, we were delighted to welcome transition year students to Maynooth University.  For our part, PhD students Iain, Mahdiyeh and Gaston gave presentations to a group of TYs explaining what it is about engineering and research that they love, along with an introduction to wave energy using our interactive demonstration wave tanks (we used the OWC one!). The students had lots of questions and we look forward to seeing them on campus as undergrads in a couple of years....

MORE/COER Wave Energy Workshop – Turin 2022

MORE/COER Wave Energy Workshop – Turin 2022

The More/COER wave energy workshop was held last week in Turin.  About 80 members of the ocean energy community turned out (in person!!) to find out what's new in the areas of hydrodynamics, control and the wave energy industry and to catch up with colleagues from around Europe. Hosted by MOREnergy from the Politecnico di Torino and organised jointly by MORE and COER, the conference featured a round table discussion and poster competition in addition to presentations from eminent researchers throughout the day.  The workshop underlined the ocean energy community's commitment to collaboration and openness in research....

Inspiring Ireland’s future engineers

Inspiring Ireland’s future engineers

Over the past few weeks, MU's EE department have been visiting schools to show senior students different elements of engineering. From robotics and communications to biomed and of course we sent some of our own PhD students to wax lyrical about the wonders of ocean energy engineering. We had lots of gadgets, demonstrations and presentations for the students to enjoy including a light tower, line bot and guard bot.  Thanks to the schools that participated.  We hope to see you on campus soon....

MORE COER Wave Energy Workshop 2022 – 29th April, Turin, Italy

We are very excited to announce that COER have joined forces with MOREnergy Lab Research Centre in Politecnico di Torino to host the Wave Energy Workshop 7th ed in Turin, Italy on the 29th April. The scope of the workshop will cover a range of topics across wave energy conversion, with a broad focus on hydrodynamic modelling, control and wave energy technology enhancement, with an industry and policy session, a poster exhibition and a round table discussion from international and local experts. We expect an attendance of 100-150 members of the wave energy community with approximately 25 poster submissions. One of the main focuses of the workshop is to bring together and solidify the community of researchers and industrialists working in this area, while providing some impressions of best practice and state-of-the-art research and to further links with the academic/industrial community. To register, please click here: A nominal registration fee of €40 (+ VAT) will be charged to cover hospitality (lunch and 2 coffee-breaks included). We...
