The successful candidate will work on a cutting-edge ocean energy project in collaboration with leading international academic and industrial partners, specifically:
“Control co-design for marine renewable energy systems”
The project is funded by the Rinn Network (Energy) consortium, with joint supervision by Profs. John Ringwood (MU)and Barry Hayes (UCC). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in RINN consortium activities, broadening their research network.
COER is an internationally recognised research centre with 38 researchers working across 21 fundamental and applied ocean energy projects led by John Ringwood.
Applicants should be well qualified academically to bachelor’s or master’s degree level in one of the following areas: mechanical/mechatronic engineering, electronic engineering, control engineering, or exceptional students in applied maths or hydrodynamics. The project will require a mix of skills including excellent written and oral communication skills, programming ability, mathematical modelling, control design and estimation.
The PhD student must be able to start (including any visa needs) by start January 2027.
