Biography

Vahid Fakhari obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in 2005, 2007, and 2013, respectively. From 2015, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University for nearly 8 years. During this period, he managed industrial projects and supervised over 20 graduate and postgraduate theses in his research group, focusing on areas including mathematical modelling, dynamics, vibration control, control systems, optimisation, manufacturing, and experimental testing of mechanical and mechatronic systems. His work specifically addressed the development of wind turbines, solar trackers, energy harvesters, and robotic systems.

Vahid then joined the University of Galway as a Research Fellow in the Large Structure Research Group, where he contributed to the development of tidal energy devices and airborne wind energy systems for nearly 1.5 years. He is currently an Assistant Professor/Lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Centre for Ocean Energy Research (COER) at Maynooth University. His research interests include dynamic modelling, system identification, control systems, optimisation, ocean energy systems, energy harvesters, and mechatronics.
