Biography
Dr. Nicolás Faedo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1991. He received the degree in automation and control engineering from the National University of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, in 2015, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the Centre for Ocean Energy Research group, Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland, in 2020, with a focus on optimal control and model reduction for wave energy converters from a system-theoretic perspective.
In 2017, he joined the Centre for Ocean Energy Research group, Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland, under the supervision of Prof. John V. Ringwood. He was a Visiting Researcher multiple times with the Control and Power Group, Imperial College London, London, U.K., in 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Alessandro Astolfi and Dr. Giordano Scarciotti.
Dr. Faedo currently holds a postdoctoral position at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, and is the recipient of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF 2020). His current research interests include nonlinear optimal control theory and data-driven model reduction, with special emphasis in applications involving renewable energy systems.
