Biography

Nahia Martinez Iturricastillo completed a degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and graduated in 2022 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Her final degree project involved analysing the trend of wave maximum heights across Ireland. She then joined COER as a PhD student.

Her research is focused on analysing the change of wave climate and researching how this may affect marine renewable technologies. Nahia is funded by the Centre for research Training (CRT) in Foundations of Data Science. As part of the programme, she completed a 12-week placement at Met Éireann during the first year of her PhD. Her goal is to learn how to manage metocean data and develop a model that could contribute to the advancement of marine renewable energy converters
