Biography

 

Francesco Paparella was born in Monza (Italy), in 1987. He received the Bachelor degree in Automation engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2010, with a thesis entitled "Development of a robust controller for the lane keeping of a motor vehicle". Afterwards, he received the Master degree in Automation engineering from Politecnico di Milano, in 2012. His master thesis concerns the load sharing optimization of compression networks for natural gas, and was carried out at the ABB Corporate Research Center in Dattwill (Zurich), in 2012. During 2013, he worked at the RSE SpA-Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico, in Milan. His main activities were the programming of algorithms and interfaces in Labview for energy forecasting from solar panel and the management of European proposals. From October 2013, he is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Ocean Energy Research (COER), Maynooth, Ireland. His research interests are: wave forecasting, dynamic modelling and optimal control of interconnected structures for energy extraction from waves, position estimation using a combination of ultrasound measurements and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and wave tank testing.
