Biography
Dr. Facundo Mosquera earned his PhD in 2023 from the National University of La Plata in Argentina, focusing on advanced control systems for wave energy applications. His research specifically applied sliding mode control techniques to oscillating water columns (OWCs), point absorbers, and flap-type wave energy converters (WECs). He also holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the National University of La Plata, obtained in 2017.
In February 2024, Facundo joined the Centre for Ocean Energy Research (COER) at NUI Maynooth as a postdoctoral researcher. His project focuses on developing an excitation force estimator utilising sliding mode algorithms.
