Biography
Paul Christian Tesso Woafo obtained 2 MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Engineering from the National Advanced School of Engineering of Yaoundé, Cameroon in 2020 and 2021 respectively. From 2020 to 2021, he worked with the company SOLARHYDROWATT on a hybrid hydro solar powerplant to ensure rural electrification to remote areas of Cameroon. He also worked as R&D engineer for Sci-tech Services Cameroon where he managed several projects involving partners like IEEE, SPIE(Society of photo-instrumental Engineers) and APSA(Association pour la promotion scientifique de l’Afrique).
Paul then obtained his PhD in Control Engineering within the Italian National PhD program on Autonomous Systems(DAUSY) in 2026. His main research focused on novel control strategies for vehicle’s regenerative suspension systems and wave energy converters. He is currently a post-doctoral at the Centre for Ocean Energy Research (COER) at Maynooth University where he works on the INFINITY project. This project aims to develop a highly efficient wave energy converter with a power take-off (PTO) capable of providing instant force control to maximize power output, reduce loads and improve lifetime and reliability. Paul’s research interests include mechanics, mechatronics, solar energy, hydropower, model predictive control, optimization, micro-energy harvesting, regenerative suspensions and wave energy converters
