Ollie Mason was born in Tralee, Co. Kerry, and graduated with 1st class honours and a college gold medal in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 1995. He holds an MSc degree by research in Mathematics (1998, TCD), and a PhD in Control Theory from Maynooth University (2004). He worked at the Maynooth University Hamilton Institute as a full-time researcher in the area of Systems and Control until 2014 when he joined the Maynooth University Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics where he is currently a senior lecturer/associate professor. His main research interests are in the mathematics of control theory and optimisation with particular focus on hybrid/switched systems and time-delay systems. He has also worked on issues of data privacy for control systems.
